“ I tried it near USC campus! The special was chicken chow mein, basically thick egg noodles, cabbage and chicken! The speciality was its sauce, based on himself, he got the idea from Hong Kong. Usual spicy flavored sauce which had a hood combination with those thick noodles. It can feel your bulk as a big meal! ”
“ takin' one for the team today.... first to review, that i could see. Aldi is outgoing with a sardonic sense of humor. you can find him smoking out back of the truck. ha, classic Taiwanese. the big sign in the window said "Chicken Chow Mein". i asked Aldi what was his BEST dish. he said "Chicken Chow Mein." i often wonder if i should stop asking that question because i never can tell the motive for pushing one dish or another. is it REALLY the best, or do they just have a ton of it? is it getting old? you just never know. the CHICKEN CHOW MEIN was different from what i expected. the NOODLES were not soft and floppy. it was like they went in for a perm and ran out crying. firm and kinky. yeah, not that kinda kinky, ya perv. anyway, they were dressed in sauce but they still felt "dry" . the light SAUCE was super-peppery, which took me by surprise. Aldi said it's Taiwanese-style Chow Mein. ok. the CABBAGE was not overcooked and a fair amount of it. the CHICKEN was fairly good quality, not too fatty. and sliced, not that weird stringy crap. overall, i got used to the quirks of this chow mein and even kinda enjoyed it, but i probably wouldn't order it again. i like my noodles soft or crunchy, but not in between. there WASN'T ENOUGH CHICKEN for me to call it a good value. at $8.50, i would call it over-priced. $5 - $6 is more like it. may try the TAIWANESE-STYLE POPCORN CHICKEN next time. we'll see. happy Yelping and here's to tasting life! :) ”
